Time doesn't just fly, it ZOOMS

Should've posted before now!  But life is just, well, so daily...unless we are intentional, unless we sieze the day, one day blurs into another then suddenly a whole week is lost in a crowd of days and a month or more has passed and nothing is left but good intentions.  That's true whether I'm talking about my painting or my blogging or any sort of plan I might have.

The Lord has pointed out the value, the NECESSITY, of me being intentional in my walk with Him.  My priority must be Him.  Our relationship must come first and direct how I face any other goal or plan or intention I might have.  After all, how preposterous is it to put any finite thing before the One who created me? The most important thing I can do on any day I'm given is to immerse myself in God's Word and to come to our Lord in prayer.  That's remembering, too, that prayer is not first-and-foremost presenting some wish list, but listening to what the Holy Spirit is speaking to me.

So!  Being intentional about painting  Keeping that discipline of painting every day.  And keeping my focus on what glorifies God.  Just now I'm doing a lot of work preparing for our upcoming local craft show Mistletoe Market; but I have to be very, very careful that my goal doesn't become selling work.  I must use every bit of this creativity of mine to find ways to keep Jesus the focus of each work I produce!

Every every every day

Paint every day.  EVERY day. That's my goal just now.  Not my only, goal, of course, and not the most important thing I do--but way up there!  At present I am in vaarious phases of three separate but simultaneous projects.  One canvas is a commission from a friend; one, a commission for my son; and the other, a customizable wedding gift idea for my website.

Those projects are in the studio.  Across my kitchen table is a spread of hand-painted tiles to sell on the website and at the Mistletoe Market coming in November.  I love staying this busy, but there are considerations.  Before I zip off to the local grocery store I have to be very careful that my elbow's not covered in  fuschia paint or that I don't have a paintbrush tucked behind my ear...

Still working on an online presence, too; slowly, slowly.  I know it's a process and that a foundation must be laid....and I know the Lord is patiently teaching me about Himself and about eternal perspective through all this. He just has to remind me, sometimes.  Okay, frequently; He has to reminf me frequently LOL.

Working!

I have been more productive over the last couple of months than I have ever been!  Picasso said, "the great thing is to do them, do them, do them."  Sort of bringing a Nike commercial attitude to art, but it's true that  if I'm not painting, I'm not open to what the Lord want to do through my painting.  I have had three people approach me about doing a painting, something that's not happened before.  I've had someone ask about buying a painting that was just hanging in my classoom.

So, circumstances are focusing me on getting serious about my artwork.  And of course, the Holy Spirit speaks through the Bible, prayer, circumstances and other Christians to reveal Himself, His purposes, and His ways...

Fresh Start

I cobbled together a blog back in April  when I realized the Lord was leading me to focus anew on my art.  It was hard, though, I found, to blog about such a personal journey without paying a little too much attention to myself.  I stopped writing.

So-o-o I'm starting over, recreating the blog.  Three months to the day after my last post. I think I'll add the old posts from the former attempt; what I did manage to write did express the beginnings of this journey...let's see what happens this time 'round.
